Meet Angela
Angela Hamblin Blakely is a multifaceted and influential figure known for her achievements both on and off the basketball court. A native of Gary, Indiana, Angela is a former collegiate and professional women's basketball player, having played in the WNBA. She was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in African American World Studies with a Minor in English from the University of Iowa. She is a dedicated mother of four and has been married to Jermal Blakely for 26 years. Together, they co-pastor Christ Is King Church in Gary, Indiana.
Angela is a passionate mentor and the Founder and Director of the Hamblin Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Northwest Indiana. The foundation is dedicated to supporting girls in sports from the age of 8 and above, with a focus on empowering young girls through athletics. She also co founded Black Coaches Association of Indiana.
In addition to her work with the foundation and the church, Angela is a dedicated high school teacher. She brings the same passion and commitment to her students, fostering a love for literature and learning in the classroom.
Angela also leads the Women's Life Group at Christ Is King Church, where she provides spiritual guidance and support to women in the community. This group focuses on personal growth, faith development, and creating a supportive network for women to share their experiences and challenges.
